Melissa & Stephen :: Osaka, Japan

Melissa and Stephen had to say sayanora to Japan, after living here for one year and working for ECC. They wanted to have a more formal documentation of their time here so we set out in Tennoji and Namba for some memorable backdrops...
They are so KAWAII!!! (cute:)

Japan Cat Network!

I recently had the pleasure of volunteering at the Japan Cat Network near Hikone, about an hour north of Osaka. This is a one-of-a kind shelter, run by two Americans wanting to make a difference in the lives of Japan's street cats. Not only do they shelter about 50 cats and kittens, they run a Trap Neuter and Release program (TNR) that is helping to insure the safety of Japan's homeless kitties and lessen the strain on local communities. Many people contact them if they find abandoned kittens and Japan Cat Network works at getting these kitties healthy and then adopted.
I took lots of photos of these cuties with the hopes that in seeing these pictures, people will want to adopt or foster these kitties. If you can't do either, perhaps you could donate or volunteer your time giving these cats love!
Please contact Japan Cat Network with any questions!

"in the fishbowl."

Yatta! We did it! Leigh and I finally completed our second Imageography project! We did the shoot in July and just finished the edit. We love the result and hope you will enjoy it too! Luckily Leigh is not a shy gal and she was up for dancing around amongst many people going to and from in the OCAT Namba station walkway.
The middle scene is shot from me staying in one place on the people mover- to give you perspective. Leigh danced the long length of it many times till we got it just right!
Please enjoy this soothing beautiful artistry :) and don't forget to let me know what you think?

Bali Art Department!

This is the 2nd edition of what I call "Imageography"! While in Bali with Cori we decided it would be really cool to document her painting process on a small scale. Besides being a great friend, Cori is an amazing artist and makes vivid rich paintings that evoke feelings of warmth and love. See her website here!
So on with the show... please check out this short video inspired by the spirit of Bali. I used over 1000 consecutive images to showcase and lead you through Cori's painting process, it took us over 2 hours, but you can see all unfold in just 5 minutes! Please enjoy and leave a comment for us! Thanks!

Watch "Bali Art Department" Now!

Feel free to share with other art lovers!

I Dream of Bali! - Now up!

Ok, I haven't been too active on the 'ol Mofoto Blog! But please find more activity here and here.
Jeff and I went to Bali (Indonesia) for a week of our summer break. It was just as fantastic as everyone had said! Amongst the chaos of traffic and a lot of people, I still felt calmness and a slower pace of life. With all the bright beautiful color and intricate designs you still have the trash and pollution. The people give a friendly nod and smile if you choose to connect with them and the hospitality we felt- for only being there one week, was unreal. We were invited to a Ceremony and a Wedding and driven around by the nicest man who showed us Holy Water Temples, Volcanoes, the Monkey Forest, and more...
A big thanks to good friend Cori who had lined up a beautiful house to stay in in Ubud and great connections!
Enjoy the pics, they are on www.morganpace.com and for the more personal Bali journal (photos with us in them) you can find them on my FB page!

Image[ography]

Like videography, Image[ography] is my definition for creating a video like sequence with still images only. I've had this idea brewing, then I met Leigh and she shared similar thoughts.
On top of being a beautiful woman and friend, Leigh is an amazing dancer, yogi and writer.
She wrote a poem and we complied it together, and went with a very loose plan.
This is what came of it. WATCH THE SHORT VIDEO NOW!
We are so excited to share this with you and the world, so please comment!
There will be many more Image[ography] projects to follow in Japan!

Here are some of the shots I loved...

Thanks!

Out & About

So we've hit the 3 month mark here is Osaka! It's starting to heat up and I'm starting to really miss nature... sweet nature! It's out there- you just have to go further than your backyard to find it!
Yesterday I took a walk around my neighborhood looking to be inspired... and I was! By nature nonetheless. I took a bunch of pics for my soon to be revived Etsy store, and here are some others, that I loved, but don't think I'll try and sell.
Enjoy!

All these images (well- probably all on my blog) have been post processed in photoshop, which I almost enjoy doing as much as I like taking the picture! Some people might feel differently, but as I was working on these yesterday I made up this tune... "Post processed and it feeeeels so good!" haha I just love making a good photo look even better.

ok on to it... this is a composite image- 2 images overlapped.
